A Promising Start
When I first started Gloria Cycling, I had no idea where the journey would take me. We began in my kitchen, selling J Guillem bikes, and then set up shop offering other fantastic brands, including Enigma, ISEN, and other international favourites. But I always had this lingering question - What about creating our own frames? What could we achieve in terms of pricing, materials, and making something truly ours?
Why Titanium?
I've always been drawn to Titanium bikes for many reasons. From a commercial perspective, Titanium frames are incredibly practical. We can use grade 9 Titanium 3Al 2.5V. This material doesn’t need paint, we can use standard round pipes and we are able to incorporate conventional bike standards for head tubes and bottom bracket shells. This combination is perfect for creating a robust, timeless product that appeals to many people and is durable for the long haul.
The next steps
We embarked on the journey, prototyping our own Titanium frames. Initially, everything was made in the US by Lynskey. But once I found a more competitive and equally reliable option, we shifted production to our brilliant manufacturing partners in China, where most of the world's Titanium frame options are made.
Little did I know, at the time, that soon my frames would now be selling across the UK, Wider Europe and even further a field. 'The Archive' has provided us with an amazing workspace to grow the brand and I am excited to continue building a team that’s been growing with me on this incredible journey.
What started in my old kitchen has turned into something real, something that feels like it's on the path to becoming a genuine contender in this niche Titanium market. I’m so grateful for every customer who has put their trust in us, taken a chance on a smaller company, and supported local business. Sure, our frames are made in China, but everything else - design, assembly, procurement, customer service - is done right here in the UK, with a commitment to supporting the local economy.
